Maguire’s Family & Friends opened its doors in Morrow, GA November 23, 2009 after our family was presented the opportunity to be part of the Olde Towne Morrow project. This 17 acre district managed by the Morrow DDA consists of 6 historic homes relocated from neighboring towns in GA. Olde Town Morrow will provide quaint spaces for restaurants, taverns, tea rooms, ice cream parlors, bars, shops, galleries, boutiques and other shopping experiences. The grounds also includes a central fountain, beautifully landscaped areas to host music, theater, weddings, parties, etc, and the possibility for two hotels. A replica of Gone with the Wind’s Tara Plantation will occupy one corner of the district and will house a bed-and-breakfast inn.
Maguire’s is located in the General John B. Gordon Plantation House, built in 1850 and relocated from Reynolds, GA. When you enter Maguire’s you will realize that you are in a special place where history has been preserved. Our bar has been constructed from reclaimed original hard wood flooring and refinished to bring out the woods deep rich colors. The benches and tables have also been crafted from reclaimed wood to ensure a complete 19th century tavern style experience. 3 massive and beautify crafted stain glass pieces along with 3 grand period chandeliers round out the décor.
Our one addition to the structure not from 1850 is our 900 square foot deck offering out side dining with a view of the Olde Towne square and fountain. Weather permitting our pergola covered deck is accented with pull down shades and large planter baskets. While the deck and our dinning room are non smoking the Olde Towne district does allow drinking throughout the 17 acres offering the opportunity to step outside Maguire’s and still enjoy your beverage and the company of your pub friends.
